A brief history.

(Told by Evan).

The Catalyst

— Simply put, the series was created for an acting gig. In 2018, I decided to really try at acting and working in film and TV at large. I learned quickly that I would need to write and try my own things for more opportunity and experience, and so, I turned to Bound, one of a few story ideas I’d had much earlier, before I drew a line and crossed it into entertainment.

THE SHAPE

— The general story of Bound was inspired by time spent traveling abroad in my early to mid 20s. There were the quick trips, with nights in hostels, where a few of us strangers would become quick friends and go exploring. But, I also had the opportunity to spend extended time in Brazil (Rio) and Spain (Granada) which offered insight into what it might be like to re-settle.

THE PIECES

— Another reason for the makeup of Bound is a long held interest in social sciences. I totally regret not being a Geography/Anthropology major in college. I went with a “safer” option. So, maybe Bound is a second chance. By composing characters from different cultures, who are trying to find root or build in a new society to them, I’ll get to major again in my mid-30s.

THE ROAD

— After short bursts here and there, 2020 was the year I said I was really going to make Bound. Other “things” happened in 2020, sure, but really I just wasn’t ready enough. I’ve kept at film and TV in time outside of work - crafting, writing across genres as well as self-study in filmmaking. Now, in 2024, after more life lessons and industry digestion, I’m ready to go farther.
